His new sound has a raw and vital flavor, combined with a resolute skill that can only be gained through years of perseverance and unyielding dedication. Johnny's first new studio album release in seven years was recorded in SE Florida at Markee Music Studios. The album rediscovers Childs at a newfound peak with heartfelt songwriting and an unparalleled Blues Rock prowess delivered with a tasty and deeply evocative feel. "You can hear the pain, passion and love in every single note of Johnny Childs" (Wasser Prawda Magazine). ‘Crazy Beautiful Blues’ follows Johnny’s constant evolution as he continues to forge ahead, bending genres, breaking down walls and defying the odds of the music industry. The new album showcases a dialed in Childs with 8 new originals and 4 well placed and reworked signature covers. An eclectic mix of hard driving blues rock with hypnotic grooves such as the title track Crazy Beautiful Blues, Night Driver, Gonna Miss You and a searing rendition of Jeff Healy's See The Light, fast stomping boogies with My Baby Likes To Boogie and the instrumental Chromatic Boogie, as a well a soothing melodic chapter featuring Fairwell My Love, I'm A Crow, The Healing Game, and Real Gone, this album has it all. The instrumental Bluespocalypse features a ferocious guitar vertuosity that combines a roller coaster of raw emotion and skill with blues, rock and neo classical riffing in a dramatic yet fun arrangement.
Johnny has often been likened to a cubis painter on guitar "Paints blues riffs as radically as Picasso, He pushes blues to experimental and quirky heights" (Southland Blues), loved by many as the ultimate guitar hero, cited by critics as “A songwriter with an unusual flair for exciting arrangements, rhythms and dynamics." Songs from Groove by have been featured in mulitple TV shows and films including Childs' original tracks Walk The Floor, Don't Quit The Man and Roll Away The Stone.
The album was recorded at Smash Studios in NYC and features Johnny Childs on guitar and vocals, Michael Bram, Drums (Jason Mraz, Doug Deming, Dave Gross), Cliff Schmitt, Bass (Ron Sunshine, MIchael Powers, Curtis Stigers), Dave Keyes, Piano (Bo Diddley, Odetta, Popa Chubby), and has charted in the top ten on Roots and Blues radio charts worldwide.

The debut studio album by Johnny Childs (released: 2000) features 15 exciting electric-blues guitar driven tracks with 8 originals and 7 covers.
The album was produced in Los Angeles by multi grammy winning producer and movie composer Ira Newborn (Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) and includes several blues lumenary sidemen from the S. CA region including Paul Fasulo on Drums (William Clarke, Rod Piazza, Candye Kane) Rick Reed on Bass (James Harman, Paul Butterfield) Steve F'dor on Piano (Elmore James Jr,
Robert Lucas) and Arlen Shierbaum on B-3 Organ, Accordian (Joe Bonamassa, Brian Stetzer, Beth Hart). Tracks from two subsequent sessions include Marc Van Aken, Drums (Deacon Jones, Peter Tork, Finis Tasby) and Joel Bennet (Bass) and (Unknown) musical guests and were eventually added to the final mix to complete the hefty 15 song debut by Johnny Childs.
